Incorporated in 1946, Folsom is conveniently located 20 miles east of Californias state capitol in Sacramento and about halfway between San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Because of its location, Folsom is considered a gateway to the Sierra Mountains. Originally a gold mining town, and the site of the first passenger rail terminal west of the Rockies, Folsom is steeped in a rich and colorful history.
